The 66th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 13th May 1874 over the Rowley Mile, was Atlantic (10/1), a chestnut colt by Thormanby out of Hurricane, owned by the 6th Viscount Falmouth. The winner won by a neck in 1 minute 48 secs, with 10 lengths back to the third. A field of 12 runners contested the race which was worth £4,200 (Equivalent to £420,000 in 2017)
